My Pain History – An Unpleasant Journey
I can tell you from my own bitter experience, back pain is an absolute nightmare!! After living with back pain for over 15 years, I have tried countless products in search of relief; and through trial and error, I have learned what works, and what doesn’t— well, for me, at least. I have already had a discectomy at the L4/L5 disc level and currently have bulging discs at L5/L6, where the discs are pressing on the nerves. Additionally, I have osteoarthritis in the same area, which further contributes to my chronic pain.
First let’s talk about something serious, and that is our mental wellbeing. There have been a couple of questions raised when it comes to back problems:
- Does back pain cause depression?
or
- Does depression cause back pain?
These 2 questions lead specialists to believe the more depressed you are, the less you want to do. And the less active you are, the weaker your back can become leading to chronic pain. It’s like one leads to the other and back again, keeping us in this vicious cycle of pain and aguish.
